Language Training
Lancashire College enjoys an enviable reputation at home and abroad
for excellence in organising and delivering customised language
training for people in business, industry and the public sector.
Courses can be tailored to your unique requirements, can be any
length of time and at any time of the year. They can also be
integrated into a broader language programme.
We can offer a wide range of bespoke learning formats:
- in College
- on-site
- intensive, residential courses
- weekly on-going sessions
- one-to-one
- small groups
You decide after consultation with us, the format or combination of
formats which best suits your requirements.
Progress throughout your chosen programme is reviewed and fed back
at regular intervals with a report on conclusion of the course.
There is also the possibility of in-course or post-course
accreditation if required. Our tutors, all experts in their chosen
language, undergo continuous training and monitoring. By
providing carefully staged explanation and practice of language they
will give you confidence to communicate effectively, developing and
practising only relevant language in contexts appropriate to your
work whilst sustaining interest and motivation throughout the
course.
Intensive Residential Courses
Our intensive residential courses are arranged on demand. They
typically run for up to 5 days but can be any length depending on
the trainee's requirements. Individual tutor contact is maintained
during the day and evening, with time built in for private
reinforcement. Tutors also have meals and coffee with the trainees
providing further opportunities to communicate in the target
language but in a more natural context and at a more leisurely pace.
The college offers trainees access to print, audio, video, CD-ROM
and Internet facilities as a supplement to the tutorial sessions.
On-Going Language Training
On-going language training can be organised on our own well-equipped
Chorley site or in-company. Programmes of regular tutor contact over
an extended period allow time for assimilation and consolidation
between sessions. Such courses can be provided on demand and in any
format, these might include:
- regular group-based or one-to-one tuition
- programmes of full or half-day boosters
English As A Foreign Language
We have hosted many trainees from other countries at Lancashire
College. Their objectives are to improve their English language
skills and fully immerse themselves in English culture. Their levels
range from those just starting to learn the language to those
already fluent, but wishing to understand some of the cultural
differences. Our EFL team is very experienced at delivering business
and general English courses and this, together with the domestic
provision, means all the trainees' requirements can be met at
Lancashire College.
